« back to classes page
The U.S. Coast Guard is completing modernizing its outdated national distress communications system. The new system is called Rescue 21. Operational rescue is expensive and potentially life threatening. An EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is a critical piece of last-resort lifesaving gear for on your boat when you are out of range of a VHF-Marine radio, mobile phone or other means of two-way communication. This USPS seminar provides basic background and equipment information. Course materials if applicable will be mailed by USPS Headquarters (course can be completed prior to receipt of materials). While USPS Membership is not required to take this course, members receive a discounted tuition rate.  If you wish to join, you may call 1-888-367-8777, ext. 229.
