It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. At least, that is what they say. But what if someone gets hurt or dies at a "fun" event? That happens more frequently than most people imagine. UWF Professor Gil Fried is one of the foremost authorities on safety at sporting events, concerts, fairs, theaters and other similar venues. Besides writing and teaching about safety and crowd management, Gil has been an expert witness over the past 30 years in some of the largest cases in this area. Whether a shooting at a Madden Esports Tournament in Jacksonville or at the shooting at the Aurora Theater in Colorado, stage diving and crowd surfing injuries at concerts, fans attacked at a Dodgers Stadium, a crowd stampede at a Black Friday Sale, or even a bull getting loose at a county fair and goring people—Gil has handled almost 300 cases in his career, some of which made national headlines. He will discuss some of these cases and provide strategies to stay safe while having fun.
