STEM for Life Seminar (1 hour per week) – Literature compels us to engage early and often by “front loading resources” and maintaining those throughout the entirety of an undergraduate’s career. The STEM for Life Seminar Series correlates to where students are developmentally by year. The seminar course schedule is based on literature proven best practices as well as the successful model program with themes for each year: Year 1 is College Survival Skills and Maximizing College, Year 2 is Scientific Literature and Research Skills, Year 3 is Research and Communication Skills, and Year 4 is Career Preparation and Life After UWF. The curriculum has been designed to provide not only “hard scientific skills” but also “soft skills” that are just as necessary to success.
