The Ghosts of Santa Rosa Island

ID : 54945
« back to classes page
In the early morning with a still wind and a fall of the spring tide, the sea fog rolls in to hide Fort Pickens and Santa Rosa Island. If you stand on the Eastern rampart next to Langdon’s mortar and the flagpole, you will hear the channel buoys tolling as if they were right next to you. The bells seem to be sounding for the lost souls taken out to sea from the island. The shadows of these people and events, whether real or not, help us have insights into the history of the island and help to bring dead soldiers and historic figures back to life. Join us for this engaging lecture that looks into the past.
