Guardian Ad Litem Volunteer Certification

In this 4-week series, you will learn how and why child abuse laws were first established in this country, the History of Guardian ad Litem and the mission of advocating for a child's best interest. Sessions will include information on what to expect from team members and other program staff. You will learn to differentiate between the role of a court advocate and a community advocate. The series will also cover communication skills that will help in interviewing and observing children including confidentiality and privacy issues as they relate to building trust.
