Join us to hear about Michael Spooneybarger's incredible experiences as a journalist through his vast library of eye catching photographs. After attending PJC, UWF and getting a Journalism degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Michael worked at the Pensacola News Journal for several years as a staff photographer. In 2004, he left to work as a senior staff photographer for the Tampa Tribune where he covered general assignments and features throughout Florida. Some major assignments included Super Bowls, World Series, Stanley Cup Championships, hurricanes, Space Shuttle launches and presidential campaign stops along the I4 corridor. Covering the military he was sent to Germany, France, Haiti and Turkey as well as multiple aircraft carriers. Everyday assignments would include food photography, specialized portraits, breaking news, sporting events and concerts. Over his newspaper career he transitioned along with the industry from film cameras to digital cameras and technology which are now commonplace today.
