Autism Awareness, a fully online introduction to autism spectrum disorders, is a self-paced course.  There are five modules and you may find that a five-week plan works well for you.  However if you want to progress through the course more quickly (or more slowly), that is entirely your choice based on your preference and available time in your schedule.  Note: To successfully complete the course, students will need a copy of The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum by Dr. Temple Grandin and Richard Panek.

This continuing education course is designed to provide information about autism spectrum disorders for professionals who work with children or adults, emergency service personnel, family members of individuals with autism, and anyone who wants to learn more about autism spectrum disorders.

The Autism Awareness course is accredited by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) for 16 CEUs.  For additional details about the course, the instructor, Dr. Carlene Thornton may be contacted via email at or by telephone (850) 934-5827.
